So basically I'm hoping my 10' drill-press and my little Taig mill will be able to carry out the job of completion. So my main focus was to do the following mentioned above and then 'join' the pockets together by milling between the two to connect them both if that makes sense? I am thinking this approach is the most ideal and will probably go the most smoothly? My two receivers is a bit tricky as I will need to do this for the rear shelf area as well given the fact that the rear shelf area on my two receivers has not been started like on some other 80% lowers. Then direct plunge right in the center of the hole using an endmill bit to open up the pocket to its correct shape and size, and basically work in layers going a little at a time till I finally reach the buttom. Because of the size of the mill my plan in approach was to start off by tracing a line of the fire control pocket using a pencil and then drilling an either half inch hole or 3/8' hole to the correct depth right in the center of the fire control pocket outline I traced. What I am needing some help with is knowing what size bits and endmills to use for the job. Could some folks here who have completed their own 80% AR lowers on a manual mill share some advice and input on the subject? I've got a Taig manual mini mill with their upgrade motor and newer ER spindle, as well as a 10' drill-press for the job.
